Episode Synopsis

A train whistle signals the beginning of the episode, cutting through the air as the train moves across the landscape. Thundarr, Ookla, and Ariel watch from a hilltop. Ookla, not understanding what the train is, rides headlong down the hill to confront it. Thundarr is equally as confused, wondering what kind of beast it is. Ariel, ever the font of information on the old world, tells them it is only a train. Thundarr wants to get a closer look so they all ride down the hill to check it out.

Ookla rips off a door, revealing a cargo of red flowers. Thundarr looks for a way to stop the train and pulls a connector between cars. The train’s brakes engage and it stops. Ookla picks up a red flower and tries to give it to Ariel. She knocks it out of his hand, telling him it is a Death Flower. The pollen can make humans lose their wills.

Suddenly, they are attacked by Carocs, a race of crocodilian people. They swarm the group, but are tossed aside.

However, a leader blows on a device that sends pollen into the air, knocking the group out. Death Flowers subdue humans and Moks, apparently.

The Carocs take Ookla to go to the Death Flower fields, but dump Ariel and Thundarr into “the pit” with some furry snake creatures.

At the Death Flower fields, the Caroc leader welcomes a wizard, but the wizard is unhappy with the speed he is getting Death Flowers. The Caroc promises the harvest will be complete tomorrow and the wizard will be able to entrance the humans outside the swamp.

Thundarr wakes up and looks around. He wakes up Ariel, who realizes they’re not alone. The two furry snakes attack and entwine them while threatening to bite them. Thundarr gets free and knocks one snake out. He then runs over and grabs the other snake around Ariel and uses it as a makeshift rope to climb out of the pit, hoisting Ariel like a gunny sack. He calls their horses and they follow the iron sticks the train was traveling on.

At the Death Flower fields, Ookla is pulling a cart of Death Flowers to put onto boats. He moves down into the water and as he submerges, he gains awareness. He overturns the cart and beats up a number of the Carocs before the leader uses the device to blow pollen and subdue him again.

Ariel and Thundarr reach the end of the train tracks, but the Carocs are gone. A creature rises from the swamp and Thundarr attacks it, but his Sunsword is ineffectual against it. So he tries to wrestle it, but it tosses him aside. The creature picks up a large branch to attack him.

Suddenly a girl, Tye, appears and tells the beast, Arak, to go home. She is wary of Thundarr because he tried to hurt her friend Arak, but wants the train so she doesn’t have to be a swamp urchin forever.

She takes them on a raft to a golden pyramid of the Carocs. They are attacked once inside, but Ariel casts a spell on one of the Carocs to lead them to where the Death Flowers are located. He does so and she casts a spell to bind him so he cannot alert his comrades. They go up the stairs to the surface and Tye explains that the Carocs harvest the Death Flowers, put them on barges, and then onto the train to deliver to the wizard.

Suddenly they are attacked by Caroc farmers. Thundarr makes short work of them, but then Ookla appears, and under the spell of the Death Flowers, attacks Thundarr. To stop him, Thundarr uses his Sunsword to set the Death Flower fields on fire. They all catch and the Caroc leader screams.

Ariel casts a spell on Ookla to put him to sleep and then levitates him along with them as they escape. The Carocs try to trap them in the pyramid. They lock them into a room with a crushing ceiling, but Ookla holds up the ceiling while Thundarr cuts throught the stone doors to escape.

Outside, the Carocs have loaded the train and are on the way to the wizard. Maybe Tye will have to be a swamp urchin forever. But no! Thundarr and team ride to the rescue, cutting the cars holding the Death Flowers so they are stopped. Ariel destroys them with magic. Thundarr cuts through the tracks and Ookla stops the train engine with his mighty strength.

Tye has them repair the tracks so she can leave the swamp. Thundarr and crew ride off!
