Episode Synopsis

A massive Negastorm sends torrents of poison rain down on Thundarr and crew with negative lightning flashes.

A massive Negastorm sends torrents of poison rain down on Thundarr and crew with negative lightning flashes. They see some traders on camelback, and suddenly a wizard flies in on a giant insect that Ariel calls a giant “sky dragon.” He attacks the caravan demanding they pay tribute to him for entering his lands.

Thundarr and crew fight him, but Thundarr is struck by the negative lightning. He survives, but he and the Sun Sword are greatly diminished in strength. The wizard Yondo flies off.

Camped down in Beverly Hills with the caravan of traders, Ariel mentions that Yondo’s magic seemed strange. The scholar of the group feels that it has always seemed normal. They head out. Ariel recommends charging the Sun Sword in a pool of power nearby.

Yondo’s hideout is in the Magic Palace. He proclaims that he will show Thundarr some real magic. Thundarr and team ride through a graveyard. Near a crypt, Yondo appears on the back of his giant dragonfly creature. He lassos the gate of the crypt and breaks it open. A beatle beastie comes crawling out and attacks. Thundarr rushes in with his Sun Sword, but is knocked back. He drops the Sun Sword, and Yondo picks it up. Ariel and Ookla rush to Thundarr’s defense and knock the giant bug back into the crypt. Ookla replaces the gate. But the Sun Sword is gone!

They head to the Griffith Observatory. In a deep pit is the pool of power, so Ariel has deduced that Yondo has come here to recharge the Sun Sword. Yondo dips the Sun Sword in the pool and its power is regenerated. He waves it at Thundarr and they begin to fight. Yondo stupidly cuts through a rocky support and the whole place starts to cave in. He drops the Sun Sword and escapes. Thundarr grabs it the but the way out is now blocked. Thundarr is just happy to have the Sun Sword back, but Ookla and Ariel are worried they will not be able to get out. Thundarr could not make the Sun Sword’s blade appear because Yondo had become its master. Thundarr puts the hilt to the pool and re-re-energizes it to become its master once again. He begins cutting his way out of the cave in.

At the Magic Castle, Yondo has rigged up a battery to the lightning rod on top of the building. He has connected it to a fencing foil. Lightning strikes to create a Nega Sword!

Back at the village in Beverly Hills, Thundarr approaches the villagers, but before much can happen, Yondo attacks. His Nega Sword can blow stuff up with negative energy.

He sends his minions after Ariel and Ookla, claiming Thundarr to himself. Ookla and Ariel make short work of the minions. Thundarr jumps on the back of the giant insect and Yondo takes him to a parking garage. Yondo knocks him off and Ariel tries to rescue him but Yondo blocks her power. She notices the wires from the battery to the Nega Sword and tells Thundarr to cut them. He does and Yondo “NOOOOOoooos” and flies off screaming, “Curse you!” Thundarr and crew give chase.

Ariel explains that Yondo has no magic. It’s all old-Earth stage magic. He is no wizard! They enter the Magic Palace and find a book of magic tricks explaining the handkerchief up-the-sleeve trick. Suddenly Yondo appears behind them on stage as bookcases move out of the way. He holds five golden rings in front of himself. He tosses them at Ariel, and they lock her in place so she cannot use her magic. Thundarr attacks and Yondo pulls a giant aardvark creature out of a hat. Ariel gets the rings off and blasts the beast through a wall.

Thundarr tackles Yondo and Ariel zaps off his mask with Magic. It was Walnak, the village scholar. The village elder promises he will be punished. Thundarr and crew ride off!
